My intention in writing this collection was to write about the questions that concern me most in an accessible and inviting way. Politics, cinema and how they are linked. How we can be more demanding about the political implications of film production and distribution. How engaged cinema can have a place in social movements. The form I chose, a collection of texts that are loosely connected in their subject matter yet, above all, each form a separate whole serves to make the pluralistic and fragmented nature of my thoughts palpable. I deliberately did not write with a view to a conclusion. What I noticed when I looked at all my texts together is that for several years I have been looking for a way to combine political engagement with a complexity that reflects reality. I chose to combine texts, rather than one examination of a single topic to allow for a plurality and even make room for contradictions or friction.
